Catherine Vanaria's book, The Boston Years: The Music Scene in Photographs 1979-1986 (Laughing Camera, 2008), is on display in Photobook!!2011 at Davis Orton Gallery, 114 Warren St., Hudson, NY from November 18 through December 18, 2011. There is a reception on Saturday, November 19 from 6-8 p.m.
The Boston Years chronicles the music scene in black and white photographs during the years Vanaria lived and worked as a black and white printer in Boston. Vanaria is co-owner of Connecticut Photographics and Still River Editions, and is an adjunct professor of photography at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Connecticut.
The juried exhibition includes books by twenty artists as well as photographs by four "best of show". The photographers chosen as best of show are David Morris Cunningham, Jonathan Lipkin, Sara Macel, and Amanda Penecale.
