Great Hollow Nature Preserve Juried Art Show runs from May 17-19, 2024 (or online May 17th through June 30th, 2024). The jurors were painter Linda Puiatti and photographer Justin Goodart.
There will be an opening Reception Friday, May 17th, 6 pm - 8 pm. Show hours are Saturday May 18th-Sunday May 19th, 10 am - 4 pm.
The exhibition takes place at the Gate House Barn at Great Hollow, 225 State Route 37, New Fairfield, CT.
Ridgefield Independent Film Festival 2024
Ridgefield Independent Film Festival is in its 9th year, and takes place May 16th through 19th, 2024. The festival features 39 independent films, Q&As, panel discussions, a film stills exhibition and other events.
The poster was designed by multi-faceted local artist Jennie Carr, whose work was featured in Still River Editions’ 2023 exhibition Flag Bearers.

The Beauty of Birds: Robyn Charmel's fine art photography featured at Connecticut Audubon fundraiser
The Connecticut Audubon Society is hosting a benefit on Saturday, May 18th for the new Stratford Point Preserve featuring a solo exhibition of the fine art avian photographs of Robyn Charmel, a dedicated , conservation-minded wildlife photographer with over 10 years in the craft. All proceeds from the sale of photographs from the exhibition will benefit Connecticut Audubon’s Stratford Point Preserve, a newly-acquired 28 acre coastal habitat on Long Island Sound.
Still River Editions printed the photographs in the exhibition.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 18th from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm, and RSVPs are required. 1207 Prospect Drive, Stratford, CT.
Still River Editions Goes Platinum
In March of 2024, digital fine art printing atelier Still River Editions of Danbury, CT achieved Platinum level as a Hahnemühle Certified Studio through the Hahnemühle Excellence Program. Established in 1584, Hahnemühle is one of the world’s oldest paper manufacturers, now known for their superior quality archival inkjet papers.
There are currently only seven platinum certified studios in the United States. Still River Editions was previously certified at Gold level in 2013.
Master Printmaker Mark Savoia worked closely with Hahnemühle to review qualifications that reflect the quality of Still River Editions’ printing services. This required extensive knowledge of color management, proper handling of papers, ability to make custom printer profiles, and experience in printer maintenance.
According to Hahnemühle, “Hahnemühle Certified Studio Program […] aims to highlight and reward print studios and laboratories that focus on printing excellence, quality consistency, and outstanding service with Hahnemühle inkjet papers. Platinum certified studios have excellent knowledge and advisory skills on the strengths and variety of the Hahnemühle FineArt portfolio as well as on the archivability and longevity of artworks and fine art prints.”
Still River Editions grew out of Connecticut Photographics, Inc., which was founded in 1987 in Danbury by Catherine Vanaria and Mark Savoia. Savoia, Vanaria and their colleague Lys Guillorn serve local and national clients who require superior results in fine art printmaking.
As the photographic industry changed from darkroom to digital services, Still River Editions grew and changed with it. Now the company serves primarily artists, fine art photographers, historians, and archivists, but the company keeps its services accessible to their community. In addition, Still River Editions offers film scanning, Cruse scanning of artwork and photographs, digital retouching and restoration services, and a small gallery with quarterly exhibitions.

Michael Bram is a professional drummer who photographs as part of his life as a touring musician. Catherine Vanaria is a fine art photographer, master printmaker, and Professor of Art at WCSU who has been photographing bands since the 1970s. Bob Keating is a metal sculptor, painter, and printmaker. And Lys Guillorn & The Void Kittens are an indie-twang-garage band with members Lys Guillorn (of Still River Editions) on vocals/guitar/songwriting, Eric Bloomquist on bass and Peter Riccio on drums.

Michael Friedman launches rock and roll photo book with Kickstarter and upcoming event in Westport
Michael Friedman photographed many music legends between 1969-1973 when he worked as a publicist in the music industry. After thinking for decades his negatives were long-gone, Friedman’s wife Donna Vita found them, and the pair began to work on digitizing them, restoring them, and printing them for exhibition and publication.
The photographs, printed by Still River Editions, have been exhibited at museums, galleries, and events, including The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The California Heritage Museum and a Benefit for the Phoenix Art Museum.
Friedman has now turned the photographs and the stories behind them into the book Exposed: The Lost Negatives and Untold Stories of Michael Friedman.
The book features 200 never-before-published photos of Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, The Band, Levon Helm, Todd Rundgren, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, James Cotton, Ian & Sylvia, Johnny Winter, Gordon Lightfoot, Tom Rush, Rita Coolidge, and Albert Grossman. Some of Friedman’s stories from inside the music business feature Bob Dylan, Bob Neuwirth, Clive Davis and George Harrison.
The book may be ordered directly through Friedman’s Kickstarter with some levels of support including note cards or prints.
There will be a book launch party with live music at the Westport Library on April 22nd, 2023 beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are available here (both free and paid including a book). The Westport Library is located at 20 Jesup Road, Westport, Connecticut.

Phyllis Crowley at 2022 Open Source Festival in New Haven

The exhibition “On the Line” opens at Trailer Box Project in Danbury on Sunday, October 16th, 2022 with a reception from 2 pm - 4 pm. Artists are Bob Keating, Niki Ketchman, Katie Bassett Langin, Janice Mauro, Honorah O’Neill, Elizabeth White, Cathy Vanaria, and Jim Felice.
Photographer, educator, and Still River Editions’ co-owner Catherine Vanaria will be exhibiting large-scale prints made from scanner photographs.
Vanaria says of this body of work, “In the early days of lockdown, the living room TV became my distraction where, with cable remote in hand, I would find myself scanning the channels for interesting conversations between the various talking heads. It was during one of these sessions, that I picked up my wand scanner and scanned the screen. This proved to be my ah-ha moment.”

“Lord of Yrself”, a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings on paper by Elisa Flynn, opens Saturday, October 8th at The Gallery at Still River Editions in Danbury, CT with an opening reception from 2 pm – 4 pm. It is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs weekdays through December 23, 2022.
The works in the exhibition are mystical in feel, and draw the viewer into landscapes populated by strange creatures. Traces of humankind and its destructive tendencies are seeded throughout.
Elisa Flynn is a Brooklyn, NY-based musician, artist, writer, and producer. Her visual art features anthropomorphized animals that exist in open landscapes, and reflect her deep love of all things dark and gothic. Flynn creates works in mixed media, textiles, and woodcut. In the last two years, many works have been based on stanzas from Dante’s Purgatorio.
Elisa received a degree in Fine Art from SUNY Purchase in painting and printmaking, and has worked as a fine arts registrar for many years. She is a performing musician, and has exhibited her visual art in the Northeast and California. Elisa ran an artist’s co-op gallery — Gallery Thirteen — with a group of 6 other artists, in Danbury, CT in the late 1990’s. From 2012 to 2020 she produced the music and spoken word series Tripeg Lobo, in Brooklyn, NY and New Haven, CT.
Regular gallery hours are 8:30 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday (closed holidays: October 10th, November 24th-25th).
“The Legacy of Bill Eppridge” at the Monroe Gallery of Photography
A retrospective of the work of legendary photojournalist Bill Eppridge (1938-2013) will be on view at Monroe Gallery of Photography in Santa Fe from September 30 through November 11, 2022. There is a gallery talk via Zoom on Friday, September 30, starting at 5:30 (MDT), with Eppridge’s wife, longtime editor, and collaborator Adrienne Aurichio. An exhibition of photographs by Ben Martin of New York artists in their studios opens at Artplex Gallery in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 30, 2022 with a reception from 4 pm - 7 pm. Artists Martin photographed include Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Larry Rivers, and Marisol Escobar. The photographs offer a glimpse of the New York art world in the early 1960s.
The exhibition is mounted in partnership with Kathryn Leigh Scott, Martin’s former wife, close friend, and business partner with whom he founded the publishing company Pomegranate Press.
Still River Editions printed a number of the photographs in the exhibition.

Gene Moore’s exhibition “The Inner Sanctums” opens on Saturday, 7/9 at The Gallery at Still River Editions with an opening reception from 2 pm - 4 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The exhibition “The Inner Sanctums” consists of a select collection of visual works by Danbury, Connecticut artist Gene Moore, created primarily during the past ten years. Moore used pen and pencil, paint, and digital media to create the works in the exhibition, which runs from July 9th through September 30th at The Gallery at Still River Editions in Danbury.
Moore says of his work, “With the exception of artists who have historically dealt in repeated themes (Pollock, Warhol, even early Islamic art), my influences have not drawn so much from visual arts. Music—particularly free jazz, experimental, and psychedelic rock—acts as my main source of inspiration.”
Still River Editions printed Moore’s digital drawings on archival paper, and Chris Durante framed the exhibition.
Gene Moore is a life-long artist, musician, human rights activist, husband and father who lives in Danbury, Connecticut. Moore has worked as a musician with bands such as Hat City Intuitive, Prana-Bindu, and he currently plays with Litmus. Moore has recorded and released several albums with bands in the New York City and Northampton, Massachusetts areas including the free music quartet LPs Cosmic Hallways (Feeding Tube, 2011), Morfina (577 Records, 2017), as well as a solo project entitled Twisting Wires (Ecstatic Peace, 2001).
